FINE FOOD PRODUCERS AMASS AT SCOTLAND’S SPECIALITY FOOD SHOW

Summer suns may be disappearing in Scotland but there is plenty of warmth and sunny spirit heading to the SEC in Glasgow next January for Scotland’s Speciality Food Show. Following a very busy summer season in Scotland, with record numbers of foreign tourists, Scottish food and drink producers are looking to widen their trade accounts with almost three quarters of the Show’s 150 stands already booked.
The variety and quality of exhibitors for the January Show, which will be held from 20-22 Jan 2019, exceeds all previous years. In the Launch Gallery there are Coul Brewing Co from Fife, Isle of Skye Smokehouse, Birken Tree birch water from Perthshire, Chocolates of Glenshiel, Pittenweem Preserves and Genius Brewing, as well as many more in a specially extended area, such is the demand from new young companies.
New to the Show are also Hungry Squirrel, Strathearn Cider, Deans of Huntly – famous for its delicious shortbread, Seedlip Drinks, Ice and Fire Distillery, Just Crisps and The Dessert Depot. Along with many others they demonstrate the breadth and originality of fine food producers clamouring to exhibit at this successful show. Along with Show stalwarts such as The Little Herb Company, Chrystals Shortbread, Greencity Wholefoods, Cottage Delight and The Cress Co, this promises to be a Show not to be missed.
This year three Scottish regions will be hosting their own stands or groupings. A Taste of Shetland will exhibit with Mirrie Dancers chocolates, Thule Ventus fish, Lerwick Brewery, Shetland Deli and Valhalla Brewery, while East Lothian Food and Drink will showcase this areas’s finest produce. As in previous years The Orkney Aisles will continue to delight with tastes from the Orkney Islands.
January’s Show is not just about the exhibitors – there will be a busy programme of workshops, talks and seminars in the Seminar Theatre, offering visitors advice from industry experts on all aspects of improving your business. The highly popular Best Product Awards will also be a key feature.
Mark Saunders, Scotland’s Trade Fair Show Director said: “The 2019 Show looks set to have one of the most diverse and innovative range of exhibitors. We hope to have products that will appeal to all food retailers, tourist outlets, farm shops, delis and restaurants and hotels, wherever they are located in the UK.”
