Cairn o'Mohr started producing wines made from locally cultivated and foraged fruits, leaves and flowers in the farmhouse kitchen and have been producing commecrially since 1987.
Using authentic and genuine production methods, we do not use any concentrates, flavourings nor colourings. We are built on an old Pictish settlement, utilising many of the old farm buildings from 140 years ago along with our very own ranch style shop, cafe, decking and play area.
Scottish soft fruit, in particular Strawberries and Raspberries are world famous for their quality and they all come from Perthshire, right outside! The soil here is perfect for soft fruit growing and apparently we get the ‘right’ amount of rain, wonderful!
Many of our ingredients are also foraged, picked from the surrounding hills and estate with permission from the land owner for which we always pay in kind, the old way!
It’s all about working with people and the planet to make a great product that literally doesn’t cost the earth.
Free half case with first orders placed at the show for delivery by end Feb. Free wine for first three orders, can be used in conjunction with 'order placed at show' offer.
Our fresh fruit comes from Craigie's near South Queensferry: The Rhubarb comes in as the full length stalks of green and pink, with the greens lopped off. We chop them into the tank and add in some spices then ferment the whole lot to produce a lovely golden Rhubarb wine. After maturing in the dark for 18 months, it is finally bottled and ready for drinking.
Rhubarb was the name of a popular cartoon dog off the telly. If you hit somebody with a rhubarb it could sting a bit but would be unlikely to cause any permanent damage.
This is a medium sweet white wine, lovely and round, juicy , chewy sherberty thing. No dogs biting here.
